Originally a derelict pub in Reading, The Queens Arms, got a new lease of life recently by becoming a drop-in centre for the homeless. The old pub was converted by Grace Gomez, formerly homeless herself, into an alcohol-free community hub offering free hot meals and clothes. Mrs Gomez said she wanted to 'help other people in need'. The building is now transformed into a comfortable place for people to stay.

Local Supermarkets and businesses in Reading area donate items of food and drink to the Charity, it is necessary to store the items at a correct temperature, hence the need for this newly acquired refrigerator. People in need can come and take food from the 'Community Fridge' and that the project was instigated and is supported by The Reading Sustainability Centre who are aiming to facilitate several more of these in Reading.
